Media Hype and Myths
Have you ever noticed how the media gets such delight out of ruining the lives of people. I am not just talking about celebrities, but commoners as well. In Edmond there is a social host law--where the parents get in trouble more so than the youth that are involved. Ok, so, if the parents can get in trouble for catering a party for their kids and the kids of other parents, why don't the bars pay a stiff fine for individuals who get picked up on a DUI? Anyway, back to my initial thoughts: Have you ever paid attention to how extravagant the media can get when a myth is involved. Think of some myths that have brought media attention and list them. I think it would be interesting to see how many of us truly believe in the myths created by the media. I also think it would be interesting to find out how much of what we have believed from the media are actually myths. What do you think?

All I know is that part of the problem with the media is that what they don't know they make up. I grew up in Ardmore Oklahoma and anytime someone got in trouble in that town the newspaper would report on what they knew and then makeup the rest, and I mean literally makeup the rest. The problem with this is that people really believe all that they read. I agree with you that it is extremely harmful.
Absolutely! It is incredibly harmful. Think about the panic Y2K caused, so many people thought the world was going to end, it was pure insanity. I think the media should be held more accountable, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. Great post though!!
